Health Made Simple Using the Four Doctors Method

There’s a theory introduced by Paul Chek that breaks health down into 4 components aka The Four Doctors:

  • Diet

  • Quiet

  • Movement

  • Happiness.

Dr. Diet

Diet directly influences your digestive and hormonal systems. Eat a diet focused on whole, natural foods and develop a healthy relationship with food. Recognize that there is no one perfect human diet, and figure out what variation works best for you. Work with a doctor, health coach or nutritionist to figure this out. If your energy levels are stable throughout the day and you don’t have wild cravings chances are pretty good that you’ve found the diet that works best for you.

Dr. Quiet

Rest and quiet time should be at the top of your priority list. If you feel anxious, depressed, scattered or impatient, chances are that your body needs more rest. Without proper rest, healing isn’t possible.

Dr. Movement

Movement is a keystone of longevity. One of my med school professors used to say “motion is lotion”, meaning that motion helps to keep the muscles and joints supple throughout life. There’s also a host of metabolic, hormonal and neurotransmitter benefits that come along with moving your body.

Dr. Happiness

Happiness is living purposefully in alignment with your core values. To do that, you first have to discover what your values are, and take steps towards fulfilling your purpose.

Using these four doctors as a reminder will help you make continuous healthy decisions time after time! Here is a video that describes this more in-depth.
